IDD Community Networks Program

The Community Networks Program (CNP) is our Lifespan Mental Health Treatment initiative for individuals aged 6 and up with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our goal is to enhance the lives of people with IDD and mental health needs, their families, and their support systems by providing exemplary services and supports. These services emphasize local, person-centered, positive, multidisciplinary, cost-effective, and evidence-informed practices.

Who these services are for

CNP serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, who are dealing with mental health or substance use disorders. Our services are designed to help individuals improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and reach their full potential. SOUND’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Services and Community Networks Program (CNP) offer a wide range of services to youth and adults with IDD, autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, FASD, and other co-occurring challenges in King, Pierce, and South Snohomish Counties.

Approach to care

At SOUND, we treat every person holistically, using a biopsychosocial and developmental assessment lens. Our approach is strengths-based, person-centered, and solutions-focused, employing positive psychology and other evidence-based practices. We focus on adaptive behavior strategies to help individuals improve their quality of life.

We work collaboratively with you to understand your needs and goals, developing a personalized program that may include:

  • Assessments
  • Individual, couple, family, or group counseling sessions
  • Trauma-related services
  • Medication monitoring and management
  • Nursing services
  • Peer support
  • Crisis support (24x7 hotline)
  • Care coordination with other systems and agencies
  • Employment support

Goals

Traditional mental health and behavioral healthcare services offered under this program include individual and group counseling, case management, 24-hour crisis services, medication management, and psychological services. What sets our program apart is that the care is specifically tailored to meet the needs of children, adolescents, and adults with IDD. We use evidence-based best practices in an adaptedformat to ensure accessibility and appropriateness based on individual assessments.

The name "Community Networks Program" underscores the importance of community integration and systems of care in understanding and leveraging the strengths of individuals and their support systems. This approach helps them to reach their goals and improve their quality of life.
