SOUND offers a comprehensive, evidence-based outpatient substance use disorder treatment program guided by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) principles. This program coordinates mental health, medication, and primary care for a holistic approach, helping individuals achieve recovery, resilience, stability, and personal growth for long-term recovery. If a higher level of care, such as inpatient treatment is needed, we facilitate placement and provide ongoing aftercare once the client completes the recommended program. The number of recommended individual and group treatment hours per week primarily differentiates outpatient vs. intensive outpatient services.
SOUND’s outpatient treatment services are available to all adults and youth struggling with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) who seek to improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and reach their full potential. We are 2SLGBTQIA+ friendly and deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion. Our services are available throughout King County, serving the Central, North, and South regions.
SOUND recognizes that for many individuals, reducing substance use can be more feasible than immediate abstinence. Embracing a harm reduction approach, we support clients on their path to achieving abstinence, working with their personal goals. Our approach emphasizes gradual progress toward healthier lifestyles, recognizing this journey as a vital aspect of recovery. Each client receives a personalized recovery program that may include:
Our recovery-oriented services focus on helping individuals and families gain stability, personal growth, resilience, and tools for long-term self-direction, enabling them to reach and maintain their recovery goals. We strive to treat clients with empathy, ensuring they feel safe, seen, heard, validated, and empowered.
Most outpatient services, including SUD assessments and treatment groups, are available via telehealth. Certain SOUND locations also offer in-person groups. Justice-involved clients must initially be assessed in person, but may attend ongoing treatment groups through telehealth.
